Can you watch the Copa Libertadores in the UK? If so I’ll have some of that.
Appreciate the responses and I’m going to attempt to go next year.

Previous comment comparing River Plate and Boca stadiums earlier valid. RP is the Athletics Stadium - built for the 1956 Olympics I believe - which Melbourne pipped them to. Anyway had the privilege of going to the Boca stadium around 5 years ago. You can get a tourist 'all in' package e.g. Ticket for the game, a Mini bus that drops you at the stadium along with a courier. La Boca district was/is notorious and we were warned not to hang about - straight in and straight out at the ground. Also beware of standing too close to the front of any of the teared Terraces - why - they drop their piss over the front above - advice:- stand well back from the front etc. Also the courier on the Mini Bus to the ground dished out the Boca fans song sheet for us to have a go at en route one side in Spanish the other a English translation. Most of the songs have a theme - basically words like; if we don't win we are going round to your grannies to break her legs' and that ilk etc etc.- great stuff. Oh yes the bus usually has a 20 mins stop at a tavern on the way so you can have a beer or whatever ahead of the game. You pay extra of course but worth it if you don't wish to risk getting your head kicked in etc. Great experience - not to be missed. And can confirm there are some fantastic looking women on show - enjoy. Was in BA working for Huawei. Each morning the Argentina women folk working there come around and say good morning and kiss you on the cheek = true - what a tradition. Needless to say I made sure I arrived early and on time - every day.

Great city. Cheap to stay. And there's an airport in the middle of the city so flying to igauzu falls is simple. A must see.
Also there's a weird huge lido in the middle of town for when it's scorching hot. Be aware you have to have your feet inspected for athletes feet

Great city - went there as part of my honeymoon. Toured the stadium as out of season - you can still feel the atmosphere in and around the ground though - proper stadium and proper fans. BA is fantastic - people enjoy their days/nights because tomorrow their cash is usually worth less! Wear sunglasses as well - it's the cleavage capital of the world

I was there for 2 weeks. Did stadium tours of the Bombanera and River Plate's gaff. Didn't like RP. The poncy, upper class but of BA. The Chelsea of BA.
Went to games at Independiente, Tigre and somewhere else, I forget now.
It's weird when the opposition score a goal and there's an eerie silence.

It's a brilliant city though. A sorr of cross between Barcelona and Chicago. It's definitely worth a visit.
Rio de Janeiro was a bit disappointing.

Yes, although everyone just spends on card abroad nowadays, you get a very favourable rate by taking sterling and changing into peso over there.

Simon - Same as me, always wanted to go to BA, probably because of their passion for football, Maradona, Messi etc. Doubt I'll get there now though. Can be a dangerous place, a British businessman was murdered outside his 5* hotel a few years back after they followed him from the airport arrivals hall wearing a rolex.

Bucket list stuff for me.
Hopefully going to Buenos Aires next year at some point for a friends birthday. Whether I’ll get to the ground or not is another thing, but the country itself has always been on my places to visit list.

Brother in law spent several months in South America, and went to a number of different matches. Think he did River Plate and San Lorenzo home games in Buenos Aires. Have a look at Airbnb, they have locals offering packages (is a known business across South America is seems) which is how he got tickets.
He raved about Buenos Aires as a city as a side note.

I went in January 2018. You can't buy tickets from the club, they don't go on sale. Everyone is a season ticket holder.
There is an agency who sells people's season tickets to folk when they're not using them, which is not strictly legal. It's fucking pricey as well, it cost me about £120 to see Boca v COLON (snigger) but I thought... well... I'm only gonna be here once innit?
The agency picked us up in a minibus. I was the only Englishman among us. They don't like us in Argentina.
When we got to the stadium the bloke told us "by the way, they don't like tourists at football here so don't talk to anyone and generally be quiet". Then looked at me and said "especially YOU".
Was it worth it?
Yes
The stadium is spectacular and the atmosphere is brilliant.
No away fans though, which feels a bit weird.
